Mango, radish and jalapeno salsa can be added to a taco, burrito, rice bowls, used as a dip for tortilla chips and quesadillas , or can be used in any recipe which calls for salsa ( it really enhances the taste of the overall dish). Recipe includes instructions with stepwise pictures.
Thought of making fresh mango and radish salsa came from Mexico. When I visited Mexico, this salsa was in the buffet and we liked it very much. Ingredients used in that recipe was mango , radish , onions, fresh red chilies ,cilantro and some seasoning. I replaced fresh red chili with red chilli powder and added Jalapeno for extra spiciness on the salsa. It turned out to be delicious and yum.
Another reason for including radish in the salsa is, because of freshly grown radish in our home – vegetable garden which was ready to harvest . Kids were super excited to prepare the dish right away using the fresh vegetable from the garden. Radish also gives a nice savory and crunchy kick to the salsa.
Tips To Grow Radish
Radishes are a fast-growing, annual, cool-season crop. The seed germinates in three to four days in moist conditions. Under average conditions, the crop matures in 3–4 weeks, but in colder weather, 6–7 weeks may be required. Radishes grow best in full sun in light. Implement a dedicated watering routine once the radish leaves appear. Proper watering practices ensure an ample amount of flavor and crunch. Radishes are a common garden crop in many parts of the world, and the fast harvest cycle makes them particularly suitable for children’s gardens. After harvesting, radishes can be stored without loss of quality for two or three days at room temperature, and about two months at 0 °C (32 °F). Below Picture is radish from my home garden.
Should Texture Of the Salsa be Chunky Or Smooth ?
Salsa flavor is best when the texture is chunky. Taste of the salsa completely depends on the texture and consistency .So do not grind salsa to smooth paste . The fruity flavor from mango , savory – radish and spiciness from jalapeno in every bite gives the perfect flavor to the salsa.
