Mulled Pomegranate – Apple Cider is a perfect way to celebrate the seasonal traditions! Our family favorite lately,  It’s warm, full of spice, and naturally sweetened ( no added sugar). Its extremely easy to make with Instant pot , 4 Ingredients and 4 minutes cooking time . Pomegranate adds beautiful color and a pleasant tang to this spiced autumn classic.

This healthier holiday beverage has no added sugar , great for kids and adults , ideal for the colder nights ! Sipping the warm cider is one of my most loved drinks as the weather turns cooler. It absolutely easy to make, and perfect for a crowd , then why wait to make this and try it out ?

All you’ll need to make this cider , 

Fresh pomegranate : Tempting color , flavor , and goodness of the fruits makes it a complete classic drink. I used fresh pomegranate fruit (recommended) , you can also use frozen fruit alternatively.

Apple cider : I used the unsweetened ( no added sugar in the ingredients list ) apple cider . You can buy them online in amazon , Walmart or any other leading grocery chains.

Cinnamon sticks : this adds a beautiful scent of cinnamon to the drink, use whole cinnamon sticks ( don’t break into tiny pieces ).

Fresh ginger root: One of the perfect warming spices that also has many benefits ,  make sure to add the mentioned amount given in the recipe , and cut ginger into quarter – size slices and flatten it slightly using the sides of a knife – it releases more flavor

Storing and reheating Instructions 

If you have leftovers of this pomegranate – apple cider , store in a glass jar with the lid on. Cider will stay good in the refrigerator for upto one week.

To reheat, pour the cider into a microwavable cup, and warm up for a few seconds ( approximately 30 seconds ).

Step By Step Pictures Of How To Make The Pomegranate – Apple Cider

Fresh pomegranate , unsweetened apple cider , ginger roots cut into quarter – size slices and flatten it slightly using the sides of a knife – it releases more flavor , cinnamon sticks – each about 3 inches long.

Dump And Pressure cook

I used Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 8 Quart for cooking. Place the inner vessel into the Instant Pot. Dump all the ingredients , stir once.

Close the LID of the Instant Pot . Press the PRESSURE COOK mode on HIGH power, and SET CUSTOM TIMER to “FOUR” minutes. SEAL the Pressure Valve ( this model IP automatically seals the vent). Switch off the KEEP WARM MODE ( light should not be on in the keep warm mode). Now press START. After the pressure cooking is done. Press CANCEL . Wait for NPR (natural pressure release) leave the quick release switch in the SEAL position for FIVE minutes. Then do QPR (quick pressure release) by moving quick release switch from SEAL TO VENT.

After the steam is released, open the lid, stir well . Using a fine mesh strainer , strain the cider ( when serving cider, use the strained cinnamon stick to garnish with the cider )( discard the gingerroots and pomegranate).

Serve the cider warm and you can garnish with fresh pomegranate (optional).

Notes

  • Make sure to flatten the gingerroot slightly using the sides of a knife - it releases more flavor.
  • Add cinnamon as a whole piece , instead of adding into tiny pieces .
  • Using unsweetened apple cider is optional , you could use a regular sweetened apple cider too.
